Our test automation activity appears in all our projects, and we typically use some form of Microsoft technology. Most of our test environments and tests are written in C# or Python. In many cases, we are also the ones who define the architecture of the test automation framework. We use the ISTQB recommendations to design our system. We work in an agile methodology where clients literally sit next to us. We thrive on adapting our testing machines to the latest technologies with direct help from Microsoft.

Our SINAMICS Cross Functional Test team tests the product family: the embedded and the deployment software. Our runtime area’s hardware fleet of more than 30 tons tests SIMODRIVE, SINAMICS G product families while our commissioning team focuses on TIA Startdrive, STARTER, DriveES Basic, DCC Starter, DCC TIA, and DCB Studio. Our area of responsibility is huge, as we coordinate testing activities for Starter, Startdrive G120, DCC, and Webserver product releases, and we are also the practical testers of the SINAMICS security features. TÜV issues the ”functional safety” certificate for the product range based on our tests, among other customers.

SINUMERIK Cross Functional Test team focuses on the commissioning of machine tools’ drive technology. We target the 828D, optimized for mass production, the 840D sl for high-end applications and the latest SINUMERIK One controllers. 

Our SIMOCRANE project deals with the installation, development, and project management of port/harbour cranes. We work globally; we can have projects anywhere in the world.

We regard our Test Factory project as unique from many aspects since we are the ones who have created and are responsible for taking test automation to the next evolutionary step in Siemens’ motion control field. Our key areas of responsibility: the continuous development and optimization of the test automation framework, automation of manual tests, maintenance and reporting of automated tests, ensuring the availability of hardware park 7/24. We take great pride in having more of a friendly relationship than a partnership with our German client. They even thanked the collaboration we have in Hungarian at a joint team event.

Our Cybersecurity team provides testing, vulnerability assessment and consulting services both inside and outside Siemens. Confident in both infrastructure and application areas, our team of experts let us operate as a cybersecurity competence centre within evosoft.

We launched SIMOTION as the first System Test project in Hungary in November 2003. The ”classic” Scout testing activity has grown into a team of 27 co-workers over the years. Our team has now received the full Scout testing remit; we are also testing the S7-1500T PLC-based successor product, the Motion+ range.

Our Sense and Act Business Line project tests the S7 decentralized peripherals and their associated digital, analogue and technology modules, IO-Link, ProfiEnergy, Timebased IO function and configuration. 

While testing the modules, we take precision measurements to ensure that the products are robust in extreme field conditions as well. We have a diverse toolkit: you will find modules here that are unique even within Siemens. 

We launched our S7-1500 Business Line project in 2012 to support the testing of a product that was then still in the pre-launch phase. As of today, we are testing the entire S7-1500 product range whether standard R/H variants or special products such as the Simatic TDC. We work with at least one, but more likely 2 Audi factories’ worth of PLC hardware. Since 2021, we have extended our activities to include an integration test. We believe that nobody in Hungary knows S7 PLCs better than us.

The main objective of our Test Centre project, launched in 2021, is to perform complex end-user testing of the DI FA product portfolio (S7, WinCC). We are proud of the fact that the customer entrusted us with the pilot of the agile migration, which Siemens colleagues also consider as a reference. As a special work package, we are testing the PN Driver/Devkit products that can be used to create your product. We are associated with the quarterly customer focus day exploring new TIA features. An interesting aspect of the event is that development sites from all over the world join in, and the Siemens management handles the result as a priority.

Step7 Classic, aka Simatic manager, was originally a software solution for the installation of the S7-300 generation of products. Our team’s mandate covers the entire testing and development process.  

Besides the Simatic manager, we execute the Simatic Port configuration Tool (S7-PCT),  

Siemens Network Planner (SINETPLAN), Simatic Process Diagnostic (S7-PDIAG). Simatic PID Controller (S7-PID) and Windows compatibility tests. The development runs in a C++ project environment.

We give regular lectures in-house, at several universities (BME, University of Miskolc, Óbuda University, Széchenyi István University), and at the HUSTEF conference, too.
