A friend in need is a friend indeed

EN

We hadn’t believed for long that it could happen. Then, we did not want to believe it was happening after all. On 24th February 2022, the Russia-Ukraine war broke out. We were there to provide humanitarian help.

We were all shocked by the news of the war, and when we recovered from the initial shock, we almost immediately wondered what we could do to help.

In just a few days, we have gathered official organizations that have experience in dealing with similar crises. Through them, we tried to help in the way that was most useful at the time.

Within days, coordinated by our evolunteers team, we joined several initiatives and organized our programmes to support the refugees.

Housing offers

We joined cooperation with Hungarian Siemens organizations to provide housing for Ukrainian colleagues. Several colleagues had indicated they would have liked to offer their flat or apartment.

Collections, volunteering

  • We held a direct collection for the 8 refugee families staying with one of our colleagues.

  • We collected sleeping bags for the Salvation Army to help them accommodate the people coming to them

  • We contributed 6 camp beds and mattresses to the Siemens fundraiser in Poland. (Poland has seen a larger than expected wave of Ukrainian refugees. The local Siemens also provided temporary accommodation for the refugees. Additional beds were needed because Polish supplies were running low.)

  • On several occasions, our volunteer co-workers participated in packing food donations and clothes at the Budafok collection point of the Hungarian Interchurch Aid.

  • Through the Dorottya Foundation, we collected non-perishable food, cleaning and hygiene products and articles for personal use for refugees arriving in Hungary.

  • We made 1,000 sandwiches in the evosoft "sandwich factory" programme. The sandwiches were distributed to refugees in cooperation with the Hungarian Reformed Church Aid and the Budapest Bike Maffia.

  • 10 laptops were donated for educational purposes to the Turbina School for Ukrainian refugee children and to the Kalunba Foundation, which helps refugees find work.

We supported summer camps for 300 Ukrainian children and children in need

In 2022, we organized the evosoft summer IT camp for the children of our colleagues again. This time, we asked parents to donate the camp fees to Age of Hope Child Protection Foundation. The foundation used donations from evosoft colleagues to provide summer camps for 300 Ukrainian children and children in need.

We are glad that all our donations and support went to places they were needed.
